Travelling Man Initiative

Bavaria Lodge No. 935 Travelling Man Initiative

As all seasoned Freemasons know, Masonic travel is an important part to build meaningful connections and get a deeper understanding of masonic ritual.

Visiting other Lodges

Master Masons (3°)

All Master Masons in good standing are free to travel and be admitted to any other Lodge working under a Grand Lodge recognized by the United Grand Lodges of Germany and the American Canadian Grand Lodge AF&AM.

Recognized Jurisdictions

The VGLvD Jahrbuch issued by the United Grand Lodges of Germany lists regular Masonic Lodges and Grand Lodges recognized by the United Grand Lodges of Germany.

As the ACGL List of Lodges has been replaced by the ACACIA Book since 2020, it was also integrated into the Amity: travel… safely. Mobile App. The Amity App may be used to find Lodges and their recognition status. Moreover, the ACGL Grand View System let’s you directly see recognized Grand Loges.

Letter of Good Standing

For Lodges under one of the other 4 Grand Loges within the United Grand Lodges of Germany – Brotherhood of Freemasons, a Letter of Good Standing (LOGS) may be issued by the Lodge Secretary and can be electronically sent to the lodge prior to the visit.

For visitation of Lodges in other Grand Lodge’s jurisdictions, a letter of introduction and/or Letter of Good Standing needs to be requested through the Lodge Secretary from the Grand Secretary. This requires information on Grand Lodge, Lodge(s) or State(s)/Area(s) to be visited, time frame of visitation and in case of invitation a copy thereof.

Furthermore, a Master Mason shall in any case carry their Grand Lodge issued Dues Card with him, comprising a QR Code to enable the other Lodge to check your good standing’s live status.

Entered Apprentices (1°) and Fellow Crafts (2°)

Enter Apprentices and Fellow Crafts may only visit other lodges if accompanied by a Master Mason who knows them from Open Lodge. A confirmation of good standing may be issued by the Lodge Secretary in exceptional cases and should be electronically sent to the lodge prior to the visit.

Note: Entered Apprentices and Fellow Crafts neither have a lodge jewel nor Dues Card.

Commemorate Travel through Stamps

When you visit other lodges or witness degree work at any other Lodge working under a Grand Lodge in Amity with the United Grand Lodges of Germany and the American Canadian Grand Lodge AF&AM, the Lodge’s Secretary or his designee may validate your Masonic Passport with a commemorative stamp.

Note: The Masonic Passport is only to be used for commemorative purposes and does not substitute nor replace your Grand Lodge issued Dues Card nor your Letter of Good Standing.
